How long is it since I really smiled?
A beam that lifts my ears and wrinkles my eyes,
shoots the corners of my mouth towards the sky,
draws the blood up from my leaden feet,
and pumps my head full with a giddy heat.
Dear friend, it’s been far too long a while.
